Who we are

Kixy (kixy.ai) is a web app that turns long videos into short clips. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use Kixy, why we collect it, who we share it with and what choices you have.

What we collect

We collect only what we need to run the service:

• Account details: your email address and, if you sign in with Google, your name and profile picture.
• Sign-in records: a session cookie that keeps you signed in, and the IP address and browser type of each session, used for security.
• Your content: the video links and files you submit, the clips we make from them, and their titles, transcripts and settings.
• Billing status: your plan, credit balance and a record of credits added and spent. Card details are entered on our payment provider's checkout and never reach our servers.
• Usage data: pages viewed and actions taken in the app, such as starting a clip or opening the pricing page.
• Referral code: if you arrive through a creator's link, a cookie remembers their code for up to 30 days.
• Messages: anything you send us by email or through the refund form.

Information from Google

If you choose "Continue with Google", Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with us. We use them only to create your account and sign you in. We do not request access to your Gmail, Drive, YouTube account or any other Google data.

We do not sell Google user data, do not use it for advertising and do not use it to train AI models. We share it only with the service providers listed below, and only so they can run Kixy for us.

How we use it

We use your data to:

• create your account and keep you signed in;
• make, store and deliver your clips;
• email you sign-in links and tell you when clips are ready;
• take payment and keep your plan and credits up to date;
• answer support and refund requests;
• prevent abuse and keep the service secure;
• understand how Kixy is used so we can improve it.

Cookies and analytics

We use a small number of cookies: one to keep you signed in, and one to remember a referral code. We also use a product analytics tool that records which pages and features are used. We do not use your data to show you third-party advertising inside Kixy.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with companies that process it on our behalf, and only as far as each needs to do its job:

• Vercel: hosts the website and app.
• Neon: hosts our database.
• Vizard: processes the videos you submit and produces the clips.
• Dodo Payments: takes payment, manages subscriptions and handles tax as the seller of record.
• Google: sign-in with Google, and YouTube's API to look up video titles and lengths.
• Resend: delivers our emails.
• PostHog: product analytics.
• Our file storage provider: stores uploaded videos and finished clips.

Videos you submit

Videos you submit are sent to our video processing provider so the clips can be made. Only submit videos you own or have permission to use. Your projects and clips are visible only to your account.

How long we keep it

We keep your account, projects and clips for as long as your account is open. You can delete a project at any time, which removes its clips. If you ask us to delete your account we delete your personal data within 30 days, except records we must keep by law, such as payment and tax records.

Your choices and rights

You can delete your projects, turn off notification emails in your profile, and ask us for a copy of your data or to correct or delete it. Depending on where you live, including the EU, the UK and some US states, you may have further rights, such as objecting to certain uses of your data or complaining to your local data protection authority. To use any of these rights, email us from the address on your account.

International transfers

Our service providers operate in several countries, including the United States, so your data may be processed outside the country you live in. Where the law requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards for those transfers.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, access to our systems is limited, and payment details are handled by our payment provider rather than by us. No online service can promise perfect security; if we learn of a breach affecting your data we will tell you as the law requires.

Children

Kixy is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page, and tell you by email if the change is significant.
